Shining a Light on the Printing Charity
At Showcase Creative, we are proud to support the Printing Charity, an organisation with a rich history and a vital mission – providing help to those working in the dynamic realms of print, packaging, paper, and graphics. Established in 1827, the Printing Charity is the UK's second oldest occupational charity, giving crucial support and evolving alongside the industry it serves. The print industry has undergone tremendous transformation over the years, but the Printing Charity's commitment to its beneficiaries remains steadfast. In the face of these changes, the charity ensures that practical, emotional, and financial support is readily available for individuals employed in these sectors, whether they are actively working, unemployed, or in retirement.
Helpline: A Lifeline in Times of Need
One of the invaluable services offered by the Printing Charity is its free, confidential employee helpline, available 24/7/365. This helpline provides immediate, in-the-moment help and support. BACP-accredited counsellors offer emotional support around the clock, while information and advice specialists are available from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 8 pm.
Financial Support and Signposting for a Brighter Future
Financial support is a crucial aspect of the Printing Charity's work. It assists individuals grappling with day-to-day expenses or facing unexpected financial burdens. The charity also connects those in need with partner organisations specialising in debt management, wellbeing, benefits, housing, energy prices, and navigating the challenges of the cost of living crisis.
Independent Retirement Almshouses
For retired individuals with reduced financial means, the Printing Charity offers affordable, independent living developments in Basildon and Bletchley. These communities provide a sense of safety and security, featuring beautiful gardens, communal areas, and a variety of activities.
Rising Star Awards: Nurturing Emerging Talent
The Printing Charity's annual Rising Star Awards celebrate individuals aged 18-30 who are building their careers in print, packaging, paper, graphics, and allied trades. The awards provide grants of up to £1500 to fund courses and training, fostering future career development and benefiting both the individual and the industry at large.
Employee Wellbeing
At Showcase Creative, we take pride in supporting our team's wellbeing by offering the Printing Charity's free, confidential 24/7/365 helpline. Neil Lovell, CEO of the Printing Charity, commends our commitment to employee wellbeing and encourages other businesses in the packaging sector to follow our lead in rolling out this essential helpline. "We at the Printing Charity are here for all businesses in the packaging sector, along with those in print, paper, graphics, and the allied trades, whenever we are needed. We'd love to hear from other businesses in packaging who wish to follow Showcase Creative's lead so we can roll the helpline out still further." - Neil Lovell, CEO, the Printing Charity.
In supporting the Printing Charity, Showcase Creative stands alongside an organisation dedicated to ensuring that those in the print industry have the support they need, no matter the challenges they face.
