Case Study: Rodds Coffee Influencer Boxes

At Showcase Creative, we often work on projects that need to balance strong visual impact with practical performance. Our first collaboration with Rodds Coffee is a great example of how packaging can deliver on both.

The Brief

Rodds Coffee approached us to create a premium PR mailer to support the launch of a new iced coffee flavour. The pack was designed to be sent to 50 influencers and needed to house multiple items, including the iced coffee, a bottle of maple syrup, and a box of salt.

The Approach

The client had a clear vision for the overall look and feel of the packaging, but required support in developing the structure. We created custom templates for a 4-part magnetic case and base, ensuring the internal dimensions were tailored precisely to the products.

A bespoke fitment with apertures was designed to securely hold each item in place, keeping the contents protected while maintaining a clean and organised presentation.

Materials & Construction

The outer box was printed in CMYK throughout and finished with an anti-scuff matt lamination, giving it a smooth, durable, and premium finish suited to influencer gifting.

Internally, the construction was carefully considered to accommodate both the products and the temperature-control elements. A lower fitment was incorporated to house ice packs, allowing the iced coffee to stay cool during transit.

Each box was then placed inside an insulated pack and a double-walled mailer carton, ensuring it could withstand the delivery process while maintaining performance.

Overcoming the Challenge

Partway through the project, the requirements became more demanding. The iced coffee needed to maintain a temperature of under 7°C throughout its journey, and still meet this requirement when opened by the recipient.

To achieve this, we redesigned the internal fitment to hold two ice packs beneath each bottle.

To test the effectiveness of the solution, we produced a pre-production sample and included a temperature monitor inside the box which allowed the client to track temperature data at 30-minute intervals over a 23-hour journey from our warehouse to their office.

The results showed the product remained under 5°C throughout, confirming that the packaging solution met the brief.

The Result

The final pack successfully combines premium presentation with technical performance. It delivers a strong visual impact for influencer gifting, while ensuring the product arrives in perfect condition.

This project highlights how thoughtful structural design and testing can solve complex logistical challenges without compromising on brand experience.
